Not every love story needs a ballroom, a guest list of 150 people, or months of planning to be worth celebrating.
Sometimes the most meaningful celebrations are the simplest ones.
This spring, I had the honor of helping a wonderful couple celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary with an intimate vow renewal at Reynolda Gardens and The Barn at Reynolda Village in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Surrounded by blooming flowers and fresh spring greenery, they spent the afternoon reflecting on a decade of marriage and recommitting themselves to one another.
It was relaxed, heartfelt, and completely focused on what mattered most: their relationship.

Life changes a lot in ten years.
Careers evolve. Children arrive. Priorities shift. The people you are ten years into a marriage often look very different from the people who stood together on their wedding day.
That’s what makes vow renewals so meaningful.
They’re not about recreating a wedding day. They’re about honoring everything you’ve built together since then.
For this couple, the goal wasn’t a big production. They wanted a simple and beautiful experience that allowed them to slow down, reconnect, and celebrate this milestone without stress.

May is one of my favorite months at Reynolda Gardens.
The gardens are bursting with color, the weather is usually mild, and every corner seems to offer another beautiful backdrop. The combination of historic architecture, blooming flowers, winding paths, and mature trees makes Reynolda one of the most beautiful locations in Winston-Salem for an intimate vow renewal.
After spending time getting to know the couple and learning about the experience they envisioned, I recommended Reynolda as one of several options that fit their style, budget, and priorities. They met in Winston-Salem as high school students, went separate ways and reconnected years later, and the rest is history. They felt it was the perfect place to celebrate their life-long connection.
The result was exactly what they hoped for: elegant without feeling formal, beautiful without feeling complicated… just like them.

One of the biggest reasons couples choose Golden Hour Elopements for vow renewals is because they don’t want to spend months planning another event.
By the time many couples reach their 10th anniversary, they’re juggling careers, children, aging parents, busy schedules, and countless responsibilities.
Who has time to spend hours researching venues, comparing pricing, contacting vendors, coordinating details, and figuring out logistics?
Rather than sending couples a generic list of locations, I take the time to learn what matters most to them. Are they looking for mountain views? Gardens? Privacy? Luxury? Easy access? A meaningful location connected to their story?
Once I understand their vision, I create a curated list of locations that fit their needs and pre-check availability, logistics, and pricing whenever possible.
Instead of feeling overwhelmed by options, couples receive a personalized shortlist that makes the decision process simple and enjoyable.

For this vow renewal, our team coordinated nearly everything.
We helped select the location, coordinated the details, provided an officiant, and brought the thoughtful touches that transformed the afternoon into a celebration.
A beautiful cake and charcuterie spread created space to slow down and enjoy the experience together after the ceremony.
The couple simply showed up.
No stress. No endless emails. No complicated timelines.
Just time together.
That’s one of the things I love most about intimate vow renewals. Couples can spend their energy enjoying each other instead of managing an event.

There’s something incredibly beautiful about watching two people choose each other again.
The emotions often feel different than a wedding day.
There’s less pressure. Less expectation.
More gratitude.
More confidence.
More appreciation for everything they’ve experienced together.
These celebrations aren’t about impressing anyone. They’re about honoring a relationship that has stood the test of time.

Whether you’re celebrating 5 years, 10 years, 25 years, or 50 years together, a vow renewal can be a meaningful way to slow down and celebrate your relationship.
We offer both full-service vow renewal experiences and photography-only options.
For couples who want a completely stress-free experience, we can help with location recommendations, officiants, florals, cakes, charcuterie, timelines, and coordination.
If you’d rather handle the planning yourself, photography-only coverage is also available.
Either way, our goal is the same: helping you create a meaningful experience that allows you to focus on what brings you joy.
Because your relationship is worth celebrating.
And sometimes the most meaningful moments happen when you keep things simple.
