Family Photos Should Feel Like Your Family

If you’ve ever dreaded family photos because you’re worried your children won’t sit still, take a deep breath.

They don’t have to.

As a mom of four kids, ages 4 to 12, I know firsthand that children are happiest when they’re allowed to move, play, and simply be themselves. I’ve also spent the last 17 years photographing families, and one thing has remained true through every season:

The best photographs almost never happen because someone said, “Smile.”

Of course, we’ll capture that beautiful portrait where everyone is looking at the camera. I know grandparents love those.

But my favorite images are usually the ones that happen in between.

The giggles.

The cuddles.

The bear hugs.

Tiny hands reaching for yours.

The way your child looks at you when they think no one is watching.

A Mini Session That Doesn’t Feel Rushed

Twenty-five minutes may sound short, but it’s the perfect amount of time when everyone is having fun.

Rather than standing in one spot the entire session, we’ll move naturally through the greenhouse, taking advantage of the different holiday installations and beautiful light.

We’ll create a gallery with plenty of variety, including:

This year’s curated installation is unlike anything else in North Carolina.

What Should We Wear For Our Chrismas Mini Session?

Soft, neutral colors photograph beautifully in this space.

Creams, camel, navy, forest green, dusty blue, burgundy, oatmeal, ivory, and rich textures like knits and velvet complement the greenhouse perfectly.

Because the décor is already beautifully styled, simple outfits help keep the focus where it belongs: on your family.

Don’t worry.

Some of my favorite images happen when children are laughing, exploring, or simply being themselves.

I’ll gently guide your family through playful prompts instead of expecting perfect behavior.

What if it rains?

One of the biggest advantages of photographing inside Fleurish Greenhouse is that we’re protected from the weather while still enjoying gorgeous natural light.

Can we use these photos for Christmas cards?

Absolutely.

They’re perfect for holiday cards, gifts for grandparents, and updating the family portraits hanging in your home. Your edits will be ready within one week so you can get your cards ordered quickly. You can also add a rush for $100 to get your photos back within a couple days.
